ok so i went on my c: harddrive right clicked and went to run scan disk
and it said it cant run it but it will run when you restart
ok so i restarted and before it prompts you to enter your password
it runs scandisk
on step 5 of 5 and at 59%
my computer just turns off
and i thought it might be something else.....do the same thing and it shuts off again
what seems to be the problem?
im running a P4 2.93 GHZ with a gigabyte GA-8S661FXM-775 motherboard
PC2100 256mb ram
and a 40gig Western Digital HD
any advice

PC shouldn't turn off.
Could be something else causing it to turn off.
as a precaution, run hard disk diag's on the drive.
If that is clear, I would double check your cooling situation, clean any dust out of the PC.

i checked the temp and its running at 42 degrees
and how do i run a diag of my hd...do you mean defragment it did that perfectly fine
help....
