Windows Live Messenger - How To Open Emails In FireFox?

Does anyone know if its possible to have the little email icon in Windows Live Messenger to open your email in FireFox as opposed to Internet Explorer? I've already set FF to my default and even denied acess to IE in the control panel but no luck so far. I'd like to stay away from any third-party programs as well, just want to see if this can all be done in the settings and what not.

AFAIK, there is no way of doing it without installing some sort of software.

I know Messenger Plus! has this ability

Too lazy to track the link down on Mozillazine, but that was what it had to say as well; only way was to use Messenger Plus.

One word of caution. I know that Messenger Plus used to come bundled with quite a bit of adware/spyware, so watch very carefully while installing.

Yes, it still does.

But you should be careful when installing any software anyway. I don't understand why people instinctively just keep pressing Next. Just de-select the option during installation and you're fine.

Or if you are also a Thunderbird user you can access Hotmail (as well as most of the other major web based mail services) with this extension,

then just add the webmail service extension.

I've been using it for years. Its a decent little add-on and yes, you can de-select the adware option during installation.
