windows password
I had a computer with windows xp on it then computer's CPU fried needed to get a new montherboard and cpu when i connected the hard drive to the computer it would not reconize the fact winodws was already on the HD.... the hard disk has very important stuff on it so i just bought another hard drive and did a fresh install of windows xp then tried to connect that hard drive through usb to the computer but with no luck i can see the files but not open them or copy them it tells me access is dinied. I know the password but don't know where to put it in in order to access those files can anyone help me..... the password was my windows login password anyway i can use that password to access that folder... or use some software to get in......

I'll bet you had a ntfs partition on it? Its a good protection but in this case it screws the user.
Not sure how to get around it, have you tried booting into straight dos maybe and see if you can access the files that way?
