This is BOTH your problems.
Just read the testimonials in the thread I linked earlier.

By the way, 100 mbps shouldn't be a problem on any HD contents as the nominal bit rate for a BR video 46 mbps.

I think this uses the same Realtek chipset as the Trendnet 652, not bad for $15 but if you have a big house best to mod the antenna othersies you'll have a lot of drop out if your client is far from the router.

Got this reply from the manufacturer (http://www.ccandc.com.tw/products_2.php?prod=25). Stock firmware is kinda good, supports Universal Repeater Mode (Acting as AP and client simultaneouly), WPS, works as bridge or gateway. So far so good after 2 days of usage.
The current newest f/w is vs5.4.0.3 which you already have it with in the device.
It is built with Realtek RTL8196BU chip, this device isn't support DD-WRT.
