WM - Winter Tires Clearance, 40% OFF - Dec 26 - 31
This is in the flyer, but perhaps easy to miss, so I thought I would post the deal.
Walmart has a tire sale running from December 26th to the 31st. Select winter and A/S tires are 40% OFF.

I just picked up a set of Dunlop Graspic DS-3s for under $300 all in, 2012 manuf. date! Each is around $59 in our size (185/65-15). My store in Barrie also had the Marshal I-Zen Wis (KW19) (rebranded Kumhos made in Korea) for a dollar less. Not sure I would personally bother with any other brands though.
For comparison..
TireRack: $304 + shipping, duties, tax, etc
1010 Tires: $455.96 + shipping, tax
These are rated as *Very Good* by the APA winter tire guide: http://www.apa.ca/WinterTires2012-PassengerCars.asp
Edit: There is also a $60 MIR, but not available for Walart purchases. PM with Canadian Tire?
This is by far the best price I've seen, especially at a chain store and for fresh tires, not some old stock.

so I imagine the only way to find out what tires they have - and hopefully the 2 I'm looking for - is to go down to walmart and see them, correct? If only they had an updated website.... sigh....

I would try calling, but yes their website sucks. For my store it only showed the Marshals as in-stock, no mention of the Dunlops at all.

Called one WM for A/S tires and the dude said only winter tires are on clearance, not A/S. If anyone finds A/S tires on clearance in Calgary, post it for us.

I'm laughing at all the schmucks who put snow tires on when they were supposed to, instead risking their life, health, and safety for deals like this!

We put snows on my son's car in early November, found the grip had gotten to the point where they needed replacement (tread depth was stll more than 50%) and changed them 2 weeks ago for new rubber. Message could be - don't be so quick to judge others.

Well, I drive without winters at all. Is it less safe? Sure.
But I'd rather be a super, extra careful driver with A/S, than a moron with winters driving like it's a hot summer day.

Thank you OP. Got 4 Kumhos (Marshals) at $64 per tire at Royal Oak Calgary WM. Good price for the good tires.

op thanked. Got 4 Marshals KW-19 205/55R16 for 68.98$ each. Crazy price for that size and reputable quality (so far better than chinese cheap knock off tires). Agressive thread .
Dunlop DS-3 were 87$ for that size.. compound is so soft and thread dept is 10.5/32'' instead of 13/32'' for the Marshals

Got the Marshal I-Zen Wis (KW19) in 205/55/16 also for 68.98 each.
Agreed, great price and these are rebranded Kumho's and are well rated.
Extra tread depth is a bonus.
Great deal.

Getting a set installed today. 58$ a tire for the Dunlops, 56$ to mount and balance.
No sense in buying used at this price.
