Women - please leave toilet seats up!!! Leaving down poses risk for young boys...
Source: http://www.parentcentral.ca/parent/article/553694Heavy toilet seats a risk for young boys
Small boys at risk of 'penis crush' from heavy wooden, ceramic and ornamental toilet seats.
Leave it up, experts say.
Falling toilet seats are injuring an alarming number of recently potty-trained toddlers, a British study reports. The medical term for the damage – penis crush.
The trend for heavy wooden, ceramic and ornamental toilet seats is aggravating the problem, the study reports.
Ok ladies, please leave the toilet seats up..........and this is why we men do it, think of the children!!!
Article gave me a good chuckle.......what will they study next ? The scientific term is hilarious.......

Dec 15th, 2008 07:55 AM #3They are trying to lift the seats which were left down, but they are too heavy and they are falling back down.Writing in this month's issue of the British Journal of Urology, Philip and his colleagues report on four boys under the age of 4 who were admitted to hospital with injuries serious enough to require an overnight stay. All had been trained and were using the toilet on their own. They had lifted the seats, which had then fallen back down, crushing their penises. Fortunately, the injuries did not cause lasting damage._______________

I browsed that article and found it stupid for anyone to come to the conclusion that "leaving it up" would minimize accidents, not to say that there actually is a scientific way to calculate whether to leave it up or down in each household.

If you can't get your penis out of the way of a heavy object you deserve to have it crushed. Ha ha young British boys, ha ha! Survival of the fittest.

Darwinism at work.. the strongest and fittest may have their penis' uncrushed so they can spread their seeds later on.

Holy hell...lol...I'd like to start a poll to find out exactly how many boys have actually hurt their penis by failing toilet seats. I've been around a long time and have never heard of a single incident like that happening. Nor have I ever even seen a toilet seet just fall down...lol? Anybody else?

It's not just falling down, the child has been taught properly to raise the seat before taking care of business, but because of the weight of these seats they are not strong enough to get it completely upright, so it then falls back down.
The article is suggesting that the adults either put the seat back up after they are finished, or to go with the child and raise the seat themselves for the child.Last edited by Ojam; Dec 15th, 2008 at 01:00 PM. Reason: spelling

It would also be good if it was more acceptable to leave your zipper open, I have had a few close calls when I zip up.

Read the article again - this can be a serious injury.
They're not talking about adults, they're talking about potty-training (2-3 year olds). Many pre-schoolers watch their parents raise the seat with one hand and urinate with the other, and when they emulate, there's a chance for accidents. Measure your 2 year-olds arm and you'll realize it's not long enough nor have enough leverage to raise the seat, while standing in place. It's when they shuffle their feet or shift - the seat can slip out of their hands.
A pre-schooler is trying to figure how to use the toilet and you're joking about Darwinism...you're going to have your hands full when your kids arrive.
