Work not transferring me, what should I do?
So my 3rd year of university is over and during it I was working at the mall there (at a wireless store) and was supposed to get transferred here in Hamilton for the summer, but they still have not transferred me. I've been bugging the managers but they say the district manager is the one not doing anything, so I call him but he never answers, never responds to text messages or emails. What should I do? I want to still work with the company, and plan to go back ot the store I was working with during the next school year. Any ideas? Should I start looking for another job?

why not just quit at the one store and apply to the other store? of course, talk to the new store and make sure they'll hire you

Perhaps one of those people between you and the other job is against the move. Perhaps you are too good at the job and the current store does not want you to go. Maybe one of the managers does not like you for whatever reason and is giving you the gears.

Well here is the thing, the manager I worked with last summer definitely bought up the topic at their last managers meeting (confirmed by 2 other managers) but everyone says the same thing, the DM is not responding, Im flabbergasted as to what the DM would have against me, especially since last summer I was a top performer in his district I thought he would be glad to have me back, 2 managers definitely want me to work for them but they cannot until the DM signs the paper work. We work on commission and salary, and have been a decent to top performer since I started with the company. The more we make, the more the DM makes so I'm completely confused.
And to Jabb - Cant do that I would need this DM to approve me in the store as well if I quit and re applied.

get his email and email him. make sure its a properly and politely phrased letter.
if that doesnt work than it is likely more than a communications issue - someone above you doesn't want you going anywhere and isn't telling you about it.

There has to be someone higher up than your DM. At my job there is a whole list of procedures to go through if you want something and your direct supporting manager doesn't accommodate you. Go to HR and ask them. Even if HR just passes it back to the DM, your DM will likely have to talk to your HR. If he's been avoiding dealing directly with you, its probably cuz you're a small potato and he doesn't have the time to deal with you. If you go through HR, it is through official channels so he likely will have to respond yes or no.
Lets put it this way. If you were top performer in his district and he doesnt have the decent sense to get back to his shining stars then I'd say its time to take your loyalty and give it to another company that is willing to take you seriously. Theres many wireless stores out there that would probably love to have someone like you on board. If you really are as good as you say you are, then you won't have trouble finding another job at a competitor.

+1. Put up or STEP UP. If I know that I am valued and I know my job very well, the less I am willing to put up crap like this. I can understand you want to remain gainfully employed, so find a job somewhere else and leave. You'll be doing yourself and everybody who remains behind a favour (IF you are good at your job AND they need you). I've left "secure" union jobs from large canadian corporations because they don't do what is right. I'll just go work for the competition and stick another knife in their back.

Instead of waiting around, just apply in-person at the other location. I'm going to assume that your relationship with your manager is OK, so just talk to him/her in advance letting them know that you are planning on applying elsewhere (other branch).
BTW, I'm assuming that each branch is independently-operated, so the DM involvement should be limited. I used to work as a supervisor @ SDM during my highschool/college years and have seen many people transfer on their own -- without head office involvement.
