Is it worth to buy a PS4 in the US?

Hi there! I am looking to buy a PS4 (Playstation 4) before June 21.
I have the opportunity to go to NY before this date, and I was wondering if it's worth to buy it there.

Besides the currency exchange, do you think there's something else I should consider?

I will be spending 4 days in the US, so I think it's enough time for the quota in the border, right?

Any thoughts are appreciated :)

Thank you!

What bundle are you looking at? Is it new or refurbished?

No specific bundle. I want it to play No Man's Sky. I really don't care if it's new or refurbished, never thought about it.

No. Unless you see a very good deal it's probably not worth it.

Buy in Canada. I've seen refurbs for as low as $215 canadian.

Go to a Casino or buy a lottery ticket while you're there, if you win some money in US dollars then it is worth it. Otherwise, spend the money in Canada.

Just remember, if anything is wrong with it when you get it home, you have to take it all the way back to the States to get it exchanged.
Places like Best buy Canada (to name one place) will not honour American store policies/receipts.

Many stores. The name is the same, but Best Buy USA and Best Buy Canada are running like two separate businesses, as if they don't even know each other. (to name one store that really stands out)

Get PS4.5 this winter instead. If you've waited this long to join the 8th gen console bandwagon, might as well get something that's not long in the tooth.

...which means that the price of the original PS4 will drop even further in price.

Nope, wait until winter is not an option. No Man's Sky's release is next month. It's an online-driven game, for what I read about it, and every day you are late to the party is one day closer to the servers shutting down... Sad, but today games have an expiry date.

Following your logic, why even bother about getting into the 8th generation if the 9th is just a few years away?

The difference is, 9th gen isn't even confirmed. PS4.5 is a few months away.

But to choose to buy a console for a game that's been delayed indefinitely... that's definitely a personal choice.

If you want to play that game though, I don't think the 4.5 is technically confirmed either.

Why would OP want to buy a PS4 in the US vs CDN? Getting a good deal? Special bundle not available in Canada?

That's exactly the excuse. If there is a bundle that was limited here, but mass produced there...

Outside of that, wouldn't it be awful to go all the way there, bring it home, have something wrong with it...go all the way back...
Maybe they'll let you test the system in store?? If not, you're really rolling the dice.

As I've mentioned before, the Canadian store will not take a return bought @ the American store.

I don't think you'll end up paying less for a ps4 in the USA vs. Canada at the moment. Get a shoppers optimum card and purchase a ps4 on a 20x points day. The points work out to about 170 bucks off, and you can immediately use the points to buy games, controllers, etc. Shoppers on a 20x day is the best deal you're going to find, even better than buying from the states.
Never trust someone who tells you that their favourite show is Corner Gas.
