Would this work? Rogers Cancellation
I have a phone line that's no longer being used, however it turns out that it's about 2 years into a 3 year contract. As it's on the old terms, it'll cost about $260 to cancel it.
Based on the new cancellation terms, it seems like it'll work out better if I were to renew the line on a three year term, take a phone and cancel right after. Essentially, I'd be paying the full price of the phone vs $260 for nothing.
This make sense? Anyone see any problems?

They might charge you cancellation fee based on the new term. don't forget the activation fee.

What you might be able to do Is renew your contract ONLY on a voice plan, WITHOUT a device upgrade OR a data plan/contract.
Because to cancel your Voice Plan Is only $12.50 + 1 months service. You have no economic inducement because you didn't HUP etc.
