Would you scam a scammer? UPDATE! MONEY ORDER PICS!
I posted a laptop for sale on some newsgroups and within 2 hours I had 4 offers from Nigeria to buy it. (sniff sniff - scam perhaps?)
Anyway, I found that two of them are the same person using different names but the same email address. (guess he forgot!) He wants to buy more from "my store" and thats when the red-alert scam bells went off. I said that if the deal goes well and there are no problems I'd sell him some more.
a.) do you think this is a scam?
and
b) if the money order clears, would you scam a scammer?
Or does that make me as bad as him? Ugh. Sometimes I hate moral issues.
What would ya do?
UPDATE
He wants to buy more from me. I said I've got access to up to 20 more and if this deal goes well then I will send him more laptops. Do you think that it will be a legit money order... since he wants more laptops?
He also says he sent $1800 (2x $900) money orders, which is $600 more than the agreed price. Said to keep it to put towards the other laptops...
UPDATE 2
Got the money orders today. Super fake and printed on a cheap bubblejet printer.Last edited by DennyD; Mar 12th, 2005 at 09:08 PM.

Yes. Would you go across the ocean to buy a Laptop. If he agrees to buy at asking price then this would be too good to be true.

Don't try to deposit the Money order or the Certified Check you get in your bank account. It will bounce off and then your bank account will be closed, all your funds frozen and police will be investigating it.At the end you may end up paying 100 some bucks to the bank for the troubles

scamming a scammer would not be scamming a scammer because that scammer is using money he scammed from someone else. anyone who used their own real money to buy something off you is not a scammer and therefore your the scammer if you scam that 'scammer'. but scammers use money they scam and then when it leads to you paypal or cc or bank will take the money the scammer scammed and gave to you and they will think your a part of the scammers. ya follow?

well, i've scammed scammers before. They money orders you get won't be legit, or they will be at one point. I've deposited some before, you get em off some web page, and they mail them to you or some crap.. Online checks, anyways they don't clear, and then your bank asks you funny questions. I did also collect credit card numbers from them, and report them back to the correspoing company. And you can usually get 10 - 15 numbers out of these people before they realize your ****ing them.

You absolutely must visit 419 Eater then. They will be happy to help you waste the scammer's time.

I remember watching P-p-p-powerbook unfold on somethingawful's forums. That site is worth it's weight in gold, best $10 ever spent.
