What kind of discount, percentage wise, did you get on your purchases during the sale?
I bought the General G-Max as well, 205/55/16, for about $98. Regular price on tiretrends.com is about $111, so a savings of about 13%. Even after shipping and installation, it will end up being less expensive than buying locally.

Paid 571.12$ Tax in shipped for 4 tires. Local regular price is 165$/Each + Tax = 765.60$. Saved almost 200$

Edit: called them and apparently they just reduce every tire by 25% in the posted price already, so there's actually no benefit to buying 4 tires over 3 (other than having a complete set).

I don't know if it influences your buying decision, but the Michelin X-Ice Xi3 will be released later this year.
The article below describes the recent launch event:

Honestly, I can't find any winter tire my size cost less than $136.

X-ice 2
Just called this morning and confirmed that the sales is for the tires (x-ice2) that are made in China. I was planning to buy a set but now wait for the next season.
I know the tires should have been checking and supposedly pass Canadian standard. just fyi.

wow, even Michelin xice-2 is made in China? I just returned mine since they are made in 2010, the store manger said he will call the online center today to find me 2011 ones. I don't think there is Made in China Michelin xice2, maybe I am wrong.
Edit: Just called Canadian Tire, my tire is made in Japan (225/60/17), however, they can't find any stock made in 2011, all 2010 stock. they said they have checked even with Michelin Canada, no 2011 in stock.

as I questioned the tire has no printing of "Made in ???" on the tire, I then spoke to 2 technicians and 1 manager and replied that they are made in China. I stopped buying them. I am currently having Michelin all-season tire and they all had Made-In-USA. I went to Costco and they all had Made in Canada or Made in USA. so I would rather skip this opportunity.
Interesting ... I found quite a few of this brand in Park lots without having the "Made-in-xx".... so donno know.
