Logitech products usually look cool, I've been looking for a GameCube one...
Why do you have 9 controllers?

Xbox Logitech Cordless Precision Controller Review
Well, if you remember a while back (early March) I reviewed the PS2 Logitech Cordless Action Controller, and I loved it. Over a month later I still say that it is the best PS2 controller on the market and it even beats out the Sony Dual Shock 2, any PS2 owner would be happy to own one. Now, the question is how does it's brother for the Xbox stand up? Here you'll find out.
I got the Xbox Logitech Cordless Precision Controller a couple of days ago and I have to say overall I'm very pleased. Much like when I was looking for the PS2 cordless controller my standards were set high, this was in no small part due to Nintendo's Wavebird controller which actually made using a wireless controller worth while, now after using the PS2 Logitech one I've kept my standards high and overall the Xbox controller from Logitech is good, but it's not without its flaws.
Here is what the controller looks like on its own.

Overall performance of the controller is great, the buttons are responsive and the controller has good range (at least 30 feet from what I've tested). So far I've used it about 20 hours and it's still going strong, Logitech claims 50+ with rumble on and based on my PS2 experience their claims are acurate. 9.5/10
Design, the design of the controller is most similar to the Microsoft S controller but it is still different, first it is slightly bigger than the S controller but not as big as the original Xbox controller. I have no real grips about the buttons used, they seem to be of good quality. I still perfer the feel of the original Xbox controller, but could never get into using the S contoller and bascially this controller falls right in the middle of those two. I do think that Logitech should have included a better option for Xbox Live users, while you can still use the headset if you plug it into the base which plugs directly into the Xbox console this means you need a very long cable for the headset, I would have liked to see them include a port to plug the headset directly into the controller, similar to the Mad Catz Livecon controllers. Overall I'm still pleased, using this controller will take me a bit longer to get use too (mostly the white/black buttons) but I'm really enjoying it, however the headset feature is a major drawback. 7/10
Another thing to note is this controller runs you between $59.99-69.99 + sales tax which means you can buy 2 standard Microsoft wired controllers or easily find another wireless controller from some 3rd party company and have cash left over (those other wireless solutions can't stand up to this one though). I'd say this controller would be a steal it it was $39.99-49.99, but at the higher price and the drawbacks I mentioned this controller is far from perfect. Value is a 6/10
Overall I'm pleased and I'm confident that if you need a wireless controller for your Xbox this is the best on the market, but I still perfer the overall feel/feature set of the Original Xbox controller, however I would take this Logitech contoller over the Microsoft S controller any day of the week.
Overall I'd rate this product a sold 8.5/10, I recommend it to everyone who can accept the Live drawbacks and has the cash.
Here is a picture of the 2 first part Microsoft controllers and the Logitech Wireless.

And here is a pic of all my Xbox controllers.

Apr 17th, 2005 03:22 AM #4I have two Xboxes, one with a mod and one without, playing 8 player multiplayer is fun. My newest (crystal) Xbox came with the clear crystal controller. I also use a Xbox controller on my PC (it is included in that picture) for my PC gaming at use gamepads. The Logitech is pretty new to me so I still have all my others... I've had the larger original controllers since around May 2002, so about 3 years. Its not like I went out and bought them all yesterday, lol.

I only wish the Wavebird had a rumble feature, if it did it would be perfect, since everything else about it is exactly the same as the original gamecube controller, if you don't have a Wavebird already go out and get one. In comparison I perfer the Wavebird over the Logitech Xbox controller, this is mostly due to the fact I've never been a fan of the white/black button placement on the Xbox S controllers and the Logitech one mimics that, although the Logitech buttons feel easier to use, maybe becuae the controller is slightly bigger.Last edited by NightRain; Apr 17th, 2005 at 03:25 AM.

I've got 2 S controllers and this Logitech cordless. I play ALOT and I've replaced the batteris only once in 3 months.
This is the BEST cordless controller for XBOX out there IMO and is worth every cent._______________

Wow....
8 controllers....I'm embarrased. I have a 3rd party for playing and a broke Con-S so my Xenium will boot.
Well, Thanks for the review. I hope I'll be able to get that or one similiar to it, looking for a 2nd Controller that works. Me and my brother can play Wrestlemania 21, hope it's good on Kai too!Last edited by wanted; Apr 17th, 2005 at 05:16 PM. Reason: forgot 'y' in 3rd party.

Maybe I'll get one of these when the price drops...I have 4 S-controllers and had a Duke for a couple days, but the oversized grips made my hands stiff after just an hour of playing, so I sold it. The S-controllers seem a good shape and have the best vibration out of all the controllers I've tried (PS2, Gamecube...although Dreamcast comes close). Play Crimson Skies or Halo 2 for a while and you'll feel some good vibrations. I don't think any wireless controllers can give as much force feedback as the corded ones.
