well, one thing Xbox can't do is play Nintendo Gamecube games! Like the new Mario Tennis released in 5 days (I can't wait!) and the new Zelda coming out next year.
Get a cube!![]()

I sat down and looked at all the titles available on the three major consoles (GCN, PS2, Xbox), and tried to find which one had the most games I'd play. Cross-platform titles were less of an issue.
I bought the Gamecube and haven't regretted it yet. The few exlusive Xbox titles just didn't hold much interest for me. And the PS2 library is full of crap, much like PS1 was (what a waste of money my old PS1 was!). Already having a GBA SP helped, too._______________
Rock it.

I have all 3 major systems. PS2 has the largest game library and is the best system for RPGs, but I'd have to recommend XBox if you're only going to buy 1. I think the best XBox games are far ahead of the games on the other platforms.
The PS2 is great but the hardware is starting to limit great new games such as San Andreas. The console is showing its age.
Gamecube is the worst by far I'd say but still worth picking up if you can get a $100 bundle such as the Metroid deal at BB last week. It's annoying that it doesn't play DVDs though, and the library of must have games is very small.Last edited by Kurtz7834; Nov 6th, 2004 at 11:15 AM.

I agree. My Xbox is my primary gaming system, then my PC, and then my GameCube. The GC is fun but the amount of must-have exclusives is small. The upcoming Mario Tennis looks like a lot of fun and I'll eventually get it but it's not Halo 2.

PS2 is best
Have both systems, PS2 for 2.5 years and Xbox for 6 months.
First off, my PS2 gets 90% of my playtime.
I bought the xbox to play some of the hyped exclusives, like Knights of the Old (RPG) and Ninja Gaiden (action) having already played Halo at friend's places. Those 2 games turned out to be fun, but very very overrated in my opinion. Ninja Gaiden - the camera is AWFUL...funny but on the PS2 I guess I'm used to a higher standard.
I'm left with Riddick, Project Gotham 2, and Rainbow Six 3 on Xbox, all of which are good solid titles (Riddick especially, SO much fun!). Notice a trend? XBOX is great for racers and shooters, but not much else.
But on the PS2, quite literally every genre is covered. RPG's, I mean, FFX, shadow hearts, FFX-2, Xenosaga.
On the action front, while the xbox has Ninja Gaiden, PS2 had Devil May Cry THREE years ago, along with awesome titles like Zone of Enders 2nd Runner, Metal Gear Solid (tho i'm not a big fan), Castlevania, Gungrave Overdose..
Platformers, the Ratchet & Clank + JAK series is unbeatable, that's 6 games right there. Four of those 6 are $30 or less. Ratchet Up Your Arsenal is MARIO 64 quality (just released).
Then there's the little things that PS2 cool, like Katamari Damacy (a puzzle game), Street Fighter Collection (why wait 6 months for the xbox version - again with shoddy 2D controls), Viewtiful Joe (appeared on Gamecube first), and free online play. I have way better memories playing Socom II online from PS2 than any comparable xbox live game.
Even cross platform games likes sports (SSX 3, ESPN series, NBA street, etc.) I buy them on PS2, sacrificing slightly less graphics for better controls on the PS2 controller. Try playing SSX 3 on XBOX...it's awful with that clunky controller.
I guess my point is that without Halo 2 coming up, I'm pretty letdown with my xbox purchase. Again tho, Riddick was friggin amazing. Having said that, Devil May Cry makes me point to the PS2 and say "FLAGSHIP GAME".
And of course there's GTA: SA, but that's not my cup of tea.
I hope this post helps your decision, and shows you that I am unbiased towards the hype.

I'm with the PS2 or the Nintendo DS
PS2- for the increasing massive library of games
(some anticipated launches for next year are Xenosaga2, FinalFantasy XII, Kingdom Hearts 2)
DS- for the many new methods of playing portable games
(ex. dual screen, touch screen, voice recognition, 2 forms of wireless)
I just don't find any of Xbox's games interesting...Last edited by babaji; Nov 6th, 2004 at 12:59 PM.

Nintendo DS
At least you'll have an upgrade path and at the same time having backwards compatibility with the truly excellent GBA library that you can take anywhere with you.
Oh and with Ninja Gaiden, there is an Xbox Live! extra that you can install (google for it) that will let you move the camera yourself.
Tecmo has this insane need to fix the camera angle for maximum screenshot "coolness" effect that doesn't work so well when you're trying to kick ass.

To answer your question its what type of Gamer are you? I have all 4, and i like them all. The best investment i've made is the XBOX as its not only my gaming machine but also a media station for my divx,Xvid,OGM movies, this alone should make you want an XBOX. There is no Franchise on the XBOX that would turn my head, DOA is fun, and the MS sport games are fun too...but i prefer the ESPN games which are available on both XBOX and PS2, Fable is a must play game and so is ninja gaiden, for most people Halo is the deciding factor on XBOX or PS2.
The PS2 is another great system for the hardcore fans, the list for must have titles are endless. As I'm a fan of the MGS series, Gran Turismo, and Final Fantasy just any 1 of these titles for me would be suffice to get a PS2. But thankfully all 3 appear on the PS2, and there are other franchises like Devils May Cry, Jax, Ratchet & Clank, GTA, Ace Combat, Tekken, Xenosaga, RE etc. (there are so many to list.)
The gamecube is a fun system to have, i just bought it recently because of the Best Buy Deal, i find it to be a fun little system and overall the controller is my favourite out of the 3. The games may seem geared towards the younger crowds, but i find that i have a lot of fun w/ them especially for the multiplayer games like Mario Karts, Mario Party, etc. Also GC has MGS 1 remake, Final fantasy CC, and the Nintendo Franchise exclusive stuff like Donkey Kong, Pikmin, Wario etc. All these franchise are getting old, but they are fun regardless.
And i use my GBA-SP for SNES/Genesis Nostalgia games mainly, its good to have when you have nothing to do before bed and you don't like to read.
so in conclusion, if you want a system that can literally do anything a computer can, and like Halo than the XBOX is for you. If you like traditional RPG, Racing, Sport, Platform and you want variety in all those genre than the PS2. If you want fun factor but in limited variety i would go w/ the gamecube. If, i would choose 1 i would pick the XBOX as i like doing things other than gaming in my spare time, eventhough it may not seem like so w/ all the consoles.

I own a Sony Playstation, Nintendo 64, Nintendo Gamecube, Sony PS2, X Box, Nintendo Gameboy Advance and I think each system is great in there own way..U will get to play great games that r only made for that system..For example Jak and Daxter for the PS2, or Mario games for the Nintendo Gamecube, and Halo for the X Box, but I must admit that PS2 is the system I find myself playing with the most

Please take the discussion regarding pirating games elsewhere.
