No, not worth it. Any phone is not worth $1000 unless you can get the significant resale value (iPhones, Galaxys and possibly Pixels). I was looking to buy the Pixel 2 this year but decided against it and would put that savings towards a car. Smiling Face With Open Mouth
The requirements for me in a phone have been narrowed to a good camera, fast software and front speakers.

About Mi Mix 2, this phone will go down in price and features smaller battery than the predecessor. For $1000, I would recommend to get the upcoming Pixel 2/XL.
Galaxy S7 with Koodo $46 3GB plan
Zoomer $40.5 2GB plan

The lack of oled screen at that price point and the lack luster forward camera without the option to add memory pretty much puts it behind the Samsung in my books.

A lower price point it would be attractive.

It does however have a bigger battery then most leading to longer run time! The first day with my Samsung I was worried I would make it through the day on one charge.

That phone only costs about $600 in China, so probably go looking for some alternative online store, like aliexpress

dont buy it... you drop once... time to buy another phone
no warranty / support
you could be that cool kid with this phone last year but not anymore after S8 / G6 / Essential / iPhone X and more bezel-less display phones in the market

Just got mine. Absolutely amazing phone. Ceramic back feels smooth and premium. Full Screen is huge.

But not all apps using the whole estate. I think google really need to learn from Apple on this, make more apps to be compatible with bigger weird screen ratios.

This phone is heavy compare with iPhone 6s

Not a bad price, a lot better than the $1000 quoted above. it’s $3200 rmb(600cdn) from the actual Xiaomi store.

Does this work on Freedom LTE? The website that shows what band work with each carrier does not have the mix 2 yet. How about other carriers?

Think the only xiaomi phone with great band coverage are the global versions.

Are you using a case? Or just transparent stick on full body protectors? I imagine finger prints easily get on the back.

no case, no sticker!

yeah, finger prints like any other phones, but it is ceramic backing, so much easier to clean compare with glass, just wipe it with your cloth
