Yahoo Finance portfolio questions

Hi guys,

I am trying Yahoo Finance portfolio and I have couple of questions.

So first I create a portfolio. Then I add a company's symbol to it. Then for each symbol, it has this concept of "Add lot" where I can put in "Shares", "Cost Basis" and "Trade Date".

1. I am assuming if I put in a positive number in "Shares" field then it is a BUY transaction. And if I put in a negative number in "Shares" field then it is a SELL transaction. Correct?

I am not clear about "Cost Basis" field.

2. If I want to record a BUY transaction of 200 shares at 4$ per share with 9.99$ commission then what will be the "Cost Basis"? Will it be 4? Or 4.04995 (reached as total cost / no. of shares)? Should I put it in as positive number or negative number?

3. If I want to record a SELL transaction of 300 shares at 7$ per share with 9.99$ commission and 0.05$ tax then what will be the "Cost Basis"? Will it be 7? Or 6.97 (reached as total gain / no. of shares)? Should I put it in as positive number or negative number?

3. It sometime change my "Trade Date" by 1 day. A Bug?

Which other free online portfolio you guys would recommend?

Thanks
