I'm not sure I understand the question completely however look for a freeware program I use for that purpose entitled "Freepops" which integrates yahoo mail with outlook.

Yahoo mail uses POP3 email technology and not IMAP. If you do decide to use Outlook, during setup MAKE SURE (and I cannot stress this enough) to check a box that says something like "keep a copy of emails on server". If you don't do this, all of your Yahoo emails will be transferred into your Outlook directory and everything from the main email server will be gone forever!

Unfortunately your advice was too late , all the yahoo emails have been transferred to Outlook directory! Will lose all if the hard drive has problem.
Also I just found that only account of Yahoo Mail PLUS can use Outlook to send email. Believe I have to set up an alternative email account at hotmail or gmail in order to use Outlook.
Any comment?

Not true. I have used Yahoo mail (normal free account - not PLUS) with Outlook before and you just have to input the correct POP3 settings in order for it to work. I guess it might be different for different domain names as I have a .ca email address and it worked perfectly fine without paying for PLUS.
If you want free Yahoo mail control with Outlook 2007, you have to download YPOPS and make sure its running in the background everytime you want to use Outlook with Yahoo. Just google "use yahoo mail with Outlook 2007" and you will get tons of pages with instructions.
Regarding your gone emails Ouch!!! You can't say I didn't warn you lol. Well just back up your Outlook directory AND profile and keep it with you at all times. Its best to store it on a USB flash drive as that's least prone (most resistive) to physical or internal damage compared to a mechanical plattered hard drive.

True. Freepops that I mentioned above is similar to Ypops. I used to use Ypops but found though that they didn't react to Yahoo changes fast enough so I moved to freepops instead who seems to keep up better.

I've been downloading mail from Yahoo! for years using POP. Only yesterday I found out that they actually support IMAP. I'm not sure if you can do it in Outlook but in Thunderbird I was able to create another Yahoo! account using IMAP and then copy all my mail back to their server (from my old POP account to the new IMAP account). BTW, their IMAP server is imap.mail.yahoo.com.
