so i loaded up on points last week at shoppers drug mart, and yesterday I tried to use them to get a FS gift card, but problem was you can't use your points for that. now i'm trying to figure out a way to redeem my points and still get gift cards.
the only thing i can think of is,
- go to store and use points to buy, say, $100 of cologne or something.
- return cologne, but not for a refund, just do an "exchange", and either get a shoppers gift card to later buy a FS gift card with, or just directly for FS GC.
- this may have to be done at two separate stores, and i think it may work, but one problem is, if I have a receipt with me, they can see that the purchase was made with points, but not sure that the computer will pick this up for just an exchange ( it is programmed however, for purchases just for GC's not to happen).
- if that is the case, then maybe try a return/exchange, with out receipt, but i am not sure if that can happen either.
So I am wondering if there is an easy way to do this, or any way to do this. It would be nice to do it today while the $100 for $75 in points is on. Anyone work there?? I'm not trying to screw you guys, but I was specifically told I could redeem for anything, and that you just couldn't get 20x points on GC's, lotto, etc. So now I have 1 of everything the store sells, and $100 bucks that is *virtually* useless.
It's been thought of 1000 times, not going to happen. But YMMV.

Recently scientists revealed that beer contains small traces of female hormones. To prove their theory, the scientists fed 100 men 12 bottles of beer and observed that 100% of them gained weight, talked excessively without making sense, became emotional, couldn't drive, and refused to apologize when wrong.
No further testing is planned

i work at shoppers, it's not very likely that that would happen. You would get a refund of your points back

mission accomplished...
it was a pain in the a.., but i was able to eventually get my coveted fs gc's. I bought a cologne that I would have been happy keeping, and then returned it at a different shoppers for shoppers GC. I took that GC to another shoppers, bought 2 FS GC's and a pop and my ~$100 or so gift card worked to pay for it (not sure if that would work if I didn't add the pop).
Anyways, its a bit of work, but it was worth it. Too bad they don't just let you redeem for GC's in the first place. Ultimately, a bit of my time cost them time spent on doing transactions and printing receipts and stuff. (my gas is free and my time is free on weekends, so no biggie).
I can understand why they don't want you buying stuff and getting points to use on other store cards, but... I still spent over $200 at their store anyways so its not like i'm ripping them off. Can't wait for the next 20x event._______________

true... i was allergic to the cologne that i rec'd as a gift. they would have given me cash if i wanted - i would never go that far. i guess the moral of the story is, it all depends on the cashier and the store.
when it comes to SDM GC's, there is no "clauses" listed anywhere on what you can redeem it for, it says "any product or service", so if you get that far, your in the clear and can get FS, BB, pizza hut, etc GC's with no hassle._______________
