[Staples] YMMV - Staples - Acer Asprie 1410 Netbook, $299, 11.6", 3GB, 250GB, Intel Core 2

YMMV!! and probably in-store only. I started this deal in another ACER Netbbok thread and thought it deserved it's own thread.

Staples has lower the clearance price again on Friday for the Acer Aspire 1410-8803 to $299 with the following features :

Intel Core 2 SU3500
11.6 inch screen
3 GBs ram
250 GB harddrive
Webcam
Bluetooth (maybe?, seems that some units have a dummy switch)
Wireless G/N
6 Cell battery
HDMI Out
Windows VISTA Home Premium (update: some folks have been receiving a free Windows 7 Home Premium upgrade, YMMV)

Good litte Video Review HERE

another previous thread from last year... as also an old thread here

Call or go into the store for these SKU's:

Black SkU #822133
Red SKU #822144
Blue SKU #822142

Good Luck finding one!

This is a hot deal if you can find one.

Best is to call some locations and ask about sku.

When they were clearing these last month at $347 it was tough to find any in stock.

So, there's bluetooth on the Acer Aspire 1410 from Staples? I thought it was just an option.

Nope, no bluetooth. I reported BT in the other thread, but there isn't. It has the BT on and off switch, but it doesn't do anything. I love this netbook though, if you can find one for $299, do not hesitate. I do have a US keyboard on order though from Ebay, I hate the little left shift key (most laptops seem to be like that though). Great battery life, nice build quality, fast, HDMI out, plays MKVs, etc, etc, and etc. Loaded Windows 7 on it, runs great.

Edit: Just took this with my iPhone, give you an idea of the looks. Its the perfect size, little bigger than a 10.1 netbook, but much smaller than a laptop.

You're paying double the price for a processor that probably costs the manufacturer $40.

does it have a dvd drive? also what is with these netbooks not letting you keep the operating system? it's just 'preinstalled'...

No DVD drive. There is a restore partition, you can always get back to factory by booting to that and restoring. Its not a "netbook" thing, most companies do this now..been like this for a long time!

Called around to a few Staples in the area....some have stock but they're being sold as a "Bronze package" according to them which means they opened it up, installed the updates, created recovery discs and "this process saves you 5 hours of work! .... but its an extra $89"

Needless to say, killed the deal for me.
