Lots of info is available in the SimplyTires groupbuy thread.
Nokians have an excellent rep though they are expensive. I am getting Gislaved Nordfrost 5. Arguably just as good as Nokians but a lot less expensive.

havent used any other winter tires other than x-ice
but i gotta say theyre not too expensive but really good and quiet
unless if the snow is like half way up your knees or if the road is all ice then with a little control you wont slip (i drive a civic btw)

Yea, I'm also having troubles deciding with the Yokohama IG-20 and Michelin X-Ice Xi2 and Bridgestone Blizzak WS-60. Anyone can recommend on these 3 tires? Its for Toronto winters...so I'm guessing it won't be as extreme compared to winters in the Prairies.
Thanks

Also take a look at the Dunlop 3Ds. Low rolling resistance, higher speed rating seems to fit the bill for toronto climate.
