My buddy is in the process of defending, and he loved his time at York doing his Kin PhD.

He got lots of great opportunities to present his findings at conferences (many of them were international conferences), published quite a few papers (to some high impact journals as well) and wrote a couple book chapters.

Overall he had a really solid and productive experience completing his PhD in Kin.

Can students stop all of a sudden with their degree and return whenever they are ready to complete or do you have to complete right away? who do you speak to about this?

As long as you are not in a grandfathered program that has closed, you are allowed to stop attending and reactivate when you come back.
