well, I usually look at it this way, lets be honest, most of us don't study until the last minute, even though we all say that we need to "focus" more on school, everyone knows that those friday and saturdays which we supposed to do some work, we don't even flip a page, at least I didn't. LOL, I usually read/study through out the week, and do a bit of projects on the wknd. So I figure, since i'll be wasting my time on friday and saturdays, why not just work, and I can still go out at nite.

Yeah, I usually wouldn't do anything school related on Fridays and Saturdays too unless it was a project with an upcoming deadline, but I'd rather use that time to decompress after a week of studying.

I worked around 4hr/week in 1st yr Engineering at Waterloo and I really don't think I could've done more than 8hr/week. I have a 96% average though, so my standards are different. Also, engieering course load is like 150%. By second semester, I think less than 5% of my classmates had part time jobs (that's including the 25-30% of people who're repeating).
I won't be going back to the job because:
a) I get A LOT higher pay during co-op
b) I'd rather spend 4hr/week doing extracurricular stuff or hanging out with friends
