The other day I was watching an asian stand up comedy show. The comedian made a comment about something in regards to old asian lady investors that I find to be true even among a lot of investors I know of. Basically he said "I find older asian women to be "hoarders" of the stock market. They refuse to sell regardless of what the price is. When the price of their stock is HIGH, they don't sell. When the price of their stock is LOW, they don't sell."

Never underestimate the elderly investor who've seen a lot more in their lifetime than the young investor who already thinks they know it all.

"The problem is not merely that there are 7 million fewer shareholders than there were in 1970. Younger investors, in particular, are avoiding stocks. Between 1970 and 1975, the number of investors declined in every age group but one: individuals 65 and older. While the number of investors under 65 dropped by about 25%, the number of investors over 65 jumped by more than 30%. Only the elderly who have not understood the changes in the nation's financial markets, or who are unable to adjust to them, are sticking with stocks."

The above was written about two years before the start of probably the greatest bull market in stocks ever.

I don't like to sell. I prefer buy and hold. The only two stocks I sold were TA and SLF, both before their recent 20-30% declines. I will fully admit that was good timing and luck.
