Are you Sick of Chinese Movies?
Note: No Offense noted to Anyone.
I am so sick of Chinese Action Movies that are here in Canada--all basically go over the same old plot--followed by some *new and cool* fighting.
How about you?

Last one I saw was Hero.. I thought it sucked..
Only good movies are Jackie Chan ones.. they're funny, at least :->

I liked Hero, and I like House of Flying Daggers as well. HoFD seemed boring until the end where it was like.... so THAT'S what this is about. I thought the action was nicely done, I don't want to say anything about this, less it ruin it the WOW factor (at least for me, since I'm an anime fan).
The ones brought here I've had no problems with, unless you count ones like Twin Dragons... *shudders*.
Now, the ones in Hong Kong, they're getting worse and worse. It's like games in North America. They'll flood you with games which suck, but you need to look hard to find the good ones.

Hero was crap. However the chinese movies they release here are generally better than your averaged flick released today.
Wait until you see Infernal Affairs.

Didn't like Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, and Hero has similar shooting style, so didn't bother watching it. And it was mandarin only.
Infernal Affairs is one of them rarities.
New Police Story is another one of them.
House of Flying Daggers was ok, wasn't really into it.
HK movies, although I do watch a lot of them, pale in comparison to what Japanese and Korean movie industry has to offer.
HK soap operas I prefer better. Some of them have big big casts and big budget. If anybody remember "At the Threshold of an Era", that was a big production over 50 chapters in 1st segment and another 50 chapters in 2nd segment. I prefer soap opera over movies as there's so much time and space for characters to develop and things to happen. I can easily watch 10hrs of it in a day. You so want to know what's going to happen next or how the character develops and what he goes through. You simply can't do that in a 2hr theatre movie.

Interesting the first two mentioned are my favorite movies. I don't watch them for the fighting scenes though. There is some more. May be it is totally different athmospehere/culture for me.

yatko, may I ask what ethnic background you are?
I guess perhaps I've seen wire stunts in too many chinese movies, so those action scenes and purdy backgrounds don't do anything for me.
And why the hell are my parents watching the Pokemon movie right now???
Damn, they must be bored!!
I generally like Stephen Chow movies. They're stupid nonsense, yet funny.

My personal view; most movies in most cultures are crap. The percentage of quality in North America ("Hollywood") just tends to be a tiny bit higher, from "atrocious" to "pretty bad".

Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon sucks. However it seems most non-Chinese like it.
if you are looking for action, iron monkey is pretty good. Actors in there really know martial arts (Donnie Yen)

Iron Monkey definitely had better action, but Crouching Tiger Hidden Hidden Gerbil had much better cinematography, acting, dialogue, and plot. Definitely one of the finer foreign movies of any genre I've seen. Hero was fine, but not incredible.

the same can be said about any "hollywood" movie...probably even more so..esp the romatic comedy's and actions are all pretty much recycled plots with different actors and better special effects
such is the nature of the movie business.

BLAME ONLY YOURSELF for picking and reading boring books, my friend
Hero, HOFD are crap cuz it is HK/CN movie TARGET to Western audience, so they slim this piece, cut that piece so (hopefully) yo can get some clues about it..
let's see
Attack the gas station (comedy - Korean)
Hana-bi (yakuza Kitano style)
2046 (starting the ultra hot Zhang Zi Yi
Infernal Affairs TRILOGY ( it is considered as Godfather trilogy for HongKong movies industry)
Fulltime Killer
...
..
.etc
none of those so far have made into the US threatre, so stop blaming and go straight to yesasia.com (or other side that ya prefer and order those movies, or heading to some other site that start with supr
