Young Canadian internet moguls....

Their idea is this:
"GoInstant ... lets people in different locations surf and share the web together. The technology allows users to type, click, browse and scroll simultaneously using little more than a GoInstant account and a supported web browser."
I would never think that such a boring idea would sell for $71M. Reminds me of Twitter; I never thought that nonsensical idea would work either....

I think that was the point I was making with my "twitter" reference. So smart.

The idea might seem boring but it is big business and 70 million was probably a bargain compared to how much it would cost to buy gotomeeting or another screen sharing application with a solid company behind it. Also note that they were bought by salesforce, they will most probably bundle it in one of their solutions and charge huge licensing fees to corporations that need this sort of technology.

I really need to hang out with you and your friends. Are you taking resumes for a 'best friend'?

He's been doing the enterprise social stuff for quite a while (Firestoker, etc.). I'm guessing he'll enjoy being at Salesforce.com.
Salesforce.com seems to like young Atlantic Canadian entrepreneurs. They also bought Fredericton-based Radian6 last year for $326 million (and an old volleyball teammate of mine made millions from that as an angel investor!).
