YVR layover 10pm-1am - Enough time to go to Richmond and back through inspection ?
Is it worth going into Richmond ? Is there enough time to have a quick bite ?
Anything to recommend during a airplane layover in Richmond on a Wed night ?

By Taxi, yes. By public transportation and walking, no.

Any recommendation for a late dinner place in that area ? Give me some good restaurants and i'll research them...
And preferable restaurants that are still open at that hour between 10pm-1am.

Not as many dining options in Richmond after 10pm. Mostly Asian restaurants open.
The places I would goto:
Casual dining:
Cactus Club Cafe
Asian food:
HK Style Cafe:
Silvertower
Alleluia
Bubble Tea Cafes (Bubble tea + taiwanese food):
Gogo Tea Cafe
Estea
Pearl Castle
All the restaurants listed are open atleast until 12:00am.

The jet bar at the Fairmont Vancouver Airport is pretty nice. I'd hang out there for a few hours. It's not airside so you will have to go through the security again but it should be dead the checkpoints.

I'm on my way to HK/TW when flying thru YVR but curious to see how the food tastes in Richmond.
Between HK style cafe (is this the "tea restaurant" in cantonese?) and Taiwanese food, which of those in Richmond
(in order of priority)
1. has most selection of food
2. close the latest

With only 3 hours, I would suggest just eating in the airport unless you're also going into Richmond for some other reason. You will pay more for food, but if you leave you will have to pay for a cab anyways.
Have you checked out the
options available at YVR? It does not list the hours of operation, but there must be something suitable open.
If you do go into Richmond, I think you would be fine for getting through security at that time of day.
At that time of day, i imagine traffic would be sparse ... how much would a cab cost for the one way ?
Let's say to the average asia plaza in richmond such as Yaohan or Aberdeen ?

Probably around $10-15 with tips. Though, the Taxi driver may be cursing the moment that you tell him you're going to Richmond. Each time I get a cab from to my parents place the Taxi driver curse and complain that he waited 3 hours for a $10 fare.
