they sound quite sweet espically with 3rd party audigy drivers....forget what they were called.. sounded so crisp...but with the offical audigy 2 drivers installed i wasn't to impressed.

WARM deal (not cold)
You're crazy! These are fantastic speakers! They were the prime speakers in
my condo living room a few years ago (28 feet by 11 feet) and they filled the
room nicely. The sound was very clean, especially for computer speakers. The
only thing missing was the Dolby Digital / 5.1 surround which made me later opt
for the 5500. They sound amazing with the proper input.
$179 is still a decent price for the speakers. It's nothing super special, mind you,
but it's still worth every penny.
This deal is at least WARM, but definitely not COLD.

Nice...
how would this compare to a Logitech z-2300 in terms of SQ?
I can get a refurbished one for ~$75 taxes included.
I'm debating on whether to get this one or the Logitech z-2300..._______________

I paid $149 for these speakers back in 2005. This is hardly a hot deal.

It's sad that people think loud = quality.
Those are average. Bass is too boomy, mid are average and highs are very poor (problem with most logitech) Worth the $150 but not much more.
