I just picked one up from Zellers (Richmond Hill) and found out that the box look like it been opened (There is a new seal on top of a broken one). I tried to exchange for a new one but they won't let me. Then I tried refunding it and it say they can't refund it unless there is something wrong with the unit.
After being refused, I went home and decided to call other Zellers to see what's the refund policy was. I called another Zellers (Aurora) and they say say that it is refundable if I haven't opened it yet. So I called the Richmond hill store manager to see if the employee made a mistake, but he told me that I can't refund it cuz they have some kind of policy that said "'products that have warranty cannot be refund'. I told him what the Aurora Zellers told me and they say they aren't the Aurora store. After not going anywhere and he keep insisting it is a new unit, I hang up and called another Zellers (Scarborough) to see what was the return policy. And surprise surprise, I can refund it if it wasn't opened.
So obviously he (the store manager) either lied to me or he is oblivious to their own return policy.
Is there anything I can do? (other than to wait until Monday to call their head office to see what is their official policy and what I can do )
Thanks

I actually want to exchange it. I guess it's the same process.
More suggestions are welcome

Return it to another store just say you bought it as a gift & they do not want it.
Then go buy another one

bring it in to another store with the reciept and tell them that you want to exchange it for a unopened one because this one was opened, or whatever. Just explain the situation and if it's within in 30 days they should be able to exchange it at a different store.

Kind of off topic, but as I started reading this thread, I thought you just picked up a Zellers store manager... Perhaps I need more sleep.
