zip.ca customer service is bad.
i've used them before. and canceled my services..
imo. do not get this deal ONLY to get the DVD player.
it's not worth it.
The shipping time is standard Canada post and zip.ca takes time to fill your order... sometimes up to 3-4 days.

[ZIP.ca] - Free upconverting DVD player (1080p) w/6 month Gift Certificate
BECAUSE IT’S NICE TO GIVE A ZIP.CA MEMBERSHIP, WE’LL GIVE YOU A FREE DVD PLAYER
Make the nice list this year. Give someone a gift certificate for 6 months or more on the 3 DVD plan, and we’ll give you a FREE* Toshiba upconverting DVD player.
Toshiba

*Valid on gift memberships for 3-DVD plan, 6 months or more. Eligible buyers will be contacted with shipping details within 2 days of purchase. While supplies last.
My apologies if a repost, searched for zip.ca and got nothing.
Basically this works out to: 6 Months $149.70+GST
The DVD player is worth about $60 (looks like this model: http://www.futureshop.ca/catalog/pro...0121061&catid=)
So basically 6 months of zip.ca for $90 bucks... if you are going to sign up yourself, may as well get your spouse to "gift it" to you

While I'm not doubting you had a bad experience, I would have to say that out of the few of these services that I used (3 in total), zip was the fastest mailing. I stuck with the cheapest (forget, but it was out of kitchener), but I was happy with zip. I'll probably go again with it, although not necessarily for the dvd player alone.
Zip has a lot larger collections, but is also way more popular, so it can sometimes be hard to get new releases. I was using it for older movies and it was great._______________

If you are a zip.ca member already, can you "gift" this to yourself?

they have blu-ray's too, I did a two week trial, never got the newer movies that I really wanted, they always only had the ones near the end of my list that I don't really want, shipping is slow too so "3 DVDs unlimited" would probably man 3 dvd's/week at most (if you watch right away)

Im just finishing a free month, and found it really good. Apparently they had just changed how the "refill" works before I started, which makes them come much faster then they used to (you mark them mailed back, and they treat them as returned). If they were all watched right away I could get 20 a month for $25 on the 3 plan (im close to the warehouse).
Would definitely recommend this to anyone spending regularly on renting, even without a free dvd player._______________
