Has Zoomer never done so before? If so, I'm impressed by their commitment.
I've been with them since December 2015 and they haven't raised prices....no surprises, no problems. They even sent emails to their customers last November (or December) informing them of the loyalty plans and suggesting they call in if interested. I called that night. The call took a few minutes. Great customer service!

Another Zoomer Wireless advantage is their cheaper data overage rates...

Since this plan, I believe starts with 500MB (data is doubled to 1GB, plus additional 1GB bonus), the data overage rate is $0.05/MB, compared to Bell and Rogers at $0.07/MB. For the Zoomer loyalty plans ($36, $45 and $54) this rate drops to $0.02/MB.

From the terms and conditions:
5. Includes data use in Canada only: 50 MB / 100 MB / 200 MB: $0.15/additional MB used. 500 MB / 750 MB: $0.05/additional MB used. 1 GB, 2.5 GB, 5 GB: $0.02/additional MB used. Data charges while roaming: $1/MB in the U.S.

In other words, the data overage rates are....
$0.07/MB = $70/GB (Big three)
$0.05/MB = $50/GB (Zoomer $40.50 plan)
$0.02/MB = $20/GB (Zoomer loyalty plans)

Terms and Conditions for $40.50 plan...

Zoomer loyalty $45 4GB data with unlimited Canada-wide calling for the win - plus 2 cents/MB data overage.

Someone mentioned some changes made to Public Mobile plans. What are these changes?
There are 3 threads with discussion on these changes...

Asking for a family member who doesn't have a credit card yet. Is it possible to set up Zoomer as a bill payee or use a TD visa debit card and charge it to that, or is an actual CC absolutely required? Thanks.
When I asked about this was told a credit card is required for anyone to sign up

I think they need t he credit card to do credit check, but it is possible to use other methods of payment as i saw something like "pre authorized account".

It's possible for another method only if you pay your bill before they take a pre authorized payment from your CC. Ex your bill is due on the 28th so you pay with your debit card on the 26th and your account goes to 0 so nothing will be charged to your CC. But having a CC on file is mandatory and not just for the credit check

I just got this deal a few weeks ago... I must say, not disappointed at all. Took a week to get the phone, but aside from that, i have the same coverage as I had with Virgin Mobile. You won't regret the switch!

Thanks, OP! Am with Public Mobile right now but am really thinking of switching given recent changes they've made.
Question; what were the recent changes they made?

I was contemplating joining back in the fall with the $40 (would become $38 for autopay) 4gb province wide promo plan, but at the time I was just with Rogers/Fido on a good loyalty plan and was afraid to make the big switch - plus not having a customer service number to call when I needed to was another factor to not jump right on the deal. Then they sold out of the SIM cards and had to be picked up downtown which is quite a distance for me, so I left it at that. Then I joined Zoomer in Feb with the $36 2gb plan, and am very very happy just a little sad I missed the public deal as it had more data. But you have to be the 3rd person I've seen here wanting to switch from Public to Zoomer

I just spoke to a CSR through chat, and it looks like you can use automated bank withdrawal. You just need to fax or email a copy of a void cheque and then they will send out the phone. No CC required on file either apparently, just an initial credit check. I'll try and confirm once everything is set up.

Compared to my Fido plan, it's 50 cents more for 2 GB of data instead of one.
Not bad, but wish the talk time started at 5pm and not 6pm.

you do have unlimited incoming.

also, it is unlimited on the loyalty plan if you can stick it out for 6 months

Is there a reason you don't want to pay via CC and earn cashback or rewards?
