Thank you 9000cc. Did you ever check speed/latency?
I hadn't before, but just for you I did now. According to speedtest.net app:
28ms
32.90Mbps Down
14.25Mbps Up

Plenty fast for my needs.

If you want the tablet plan, you should go with Fido when they have the promotion for free tablet and $15/3GB.
Fido isn't an option. Fido's tablet plan available for "an eligible Fido postpaid mobile plan " only.

It is still possible to get it from a 3rd party retailer. You can also get a mobile plan first and then cancel it.

I think it is still better to get the Zoomer plan.

I noticed that Zoomer frequently pick up the signal from the states near the boarder. It is better to turn off data roaming in Niagara region.

Main post:
Note: Changes between promos must happen before the first 30 days of service or you risk losing double everything + 1gb bonuses. Any changes afterward would be after 6 months of service when upgrading to one of their Loyalty Plans (Currently with 24/7 unlimited Canada Wide Talk on them)
However the FAQ on Zoomer:
10: Can I change my plan or wireless extras services options?

A: Certainly. If you are interested in changing plans or your wireless extras service options, be sure to contact us 7 days prior to month end to have a plan change made effective for the first of the following month.
I missed out the on the $36 plan, which I think is better than the $40.50 plan (based on my needs), so I'm wondering if I sign up for the $40.50 plan now (with $150 extra for the A5), whether I'd be able to switch to the $36 plan if it ever becomes available again (or basically any other cheaper plan which comes out after I sign up)
Zoomer 2GB/500min $40.50/mth
Koodo Prepaid $15/mth

If you get the A5, you cannot downgrade to a cheaper plan. If you get the J3 or cheaper phones, you can switch to the $36 plan, but you may not get all the bonuses that come with the new activation. Your best bet is to get a J3 with the $40.50 plan and them switch to the $36 loyalty plan after 6 months.

I've been on their plan for almost 2 years now. After 2 years, any way to get a new phone? Would I have to sign up for another plan?

if u r not on a contract anymore, then u can just sign up for another contract and get the subsidized phone that comes with that plan ...

or u can just buy a phone elsewhere and use it with your current plan ... no need to sign up for another contract ... (most ppl would prefer not bound by a multi yrs contract ...)

which phone in particular are you interested in?
ooma home phone
1x fongo
2x Telus prepaid plan
1x Zoomer $36 plan
2x koodo $30 plan, 2x koodo $28

I reached the two year mark last December around the time that I learned about the loyalty plans. Called up Zoomer and switched to the $36 Loyalty plan and was offered a new phone if I wanted to start a new two year contract. Decided to just go month to month instead with no phone. Got a good deal through WoW Mobile and Koodo for a new phone with no long term commitment.

Many people would probably prefer to go for a two year contract and get a new phone that way (or sell the phone to further reduce their costs).

Could I ask Mods why they restrict people to provide referrals? I'll be happy to get $50. Smiling Face With Open Mouth

I'm not one of the Moderators, but from my understanding, the reason they don't allow people to ask for or offer referrals in the forum posts is that they don't want the forums to become a long list of "I need one", "use me", "thanks for the referral" and on and on.

Members of RFD can always send a personal message to a regular contributor of a forum thread (or the OP) asking for their help - that is allowed.

That's exactly what I did, Private message is the key. I picked randomly from the previous thread and he was kind enough to help. ^_^

For anyone have doubts about Zoomer Wireless please know that i have been with them for 7 months now and have been completely pleased with their service. It's network is comparable to Bell's and i have not experienced any dropped calls.
