Fido locked phones except for iPhones should work. As far I have heard, only iPhones have not worked. I personally have tried a Fido locked Axon and it worked, but YMMV.
That's right

I suppose one could pay Fido $50 to unlock an iPhone, and make that back by selling the free phone.

For sure a lot people here have done that for $150+. My previous phone was archaic so I kept the GR5.

Is this deal still on?
Yes, still on. Although the $50 referral credit may be ending this month.

It is not the end of the world. If someone is still in a contract, extra $25 may not be able cover the cancellation fee.
Have too many phones... This is how I limit my monthly phone payment.
1x Chatr(Mobilicity) $30 plan, 1x 7-11 Speakout, 2x Koodo $28 plan, $0 FPL home phone
1x Zoomer $36 plan, 1x Zoomer $94.50 family plan for 3 numbers, 1x Zoomer $16.20 plan

Isn't it expected that the bonus data will be dropping from 2MB to 1MB after April 30? (ie. The unadvertised promo will end and the "double data, minutes and texts" will continue.)

Who knows when promo will end, they might extend it or even cancel it before end of April given how much RFD seems to be promoting it lol. Btw it's extra 1GB on top of double data, so originally 500MB doubles to 1GB then extra 1GB to 2GB.

That is a good question. Someone said that Fido and Virgin are raising their price for the 1 to 2GB data plans. Koodo will follow soon. There will be less reason for Zoomer to offer the extra 1GB bonus data. But we are just guessing.

Mobilesyrup reported yesterday that Cityfone is still have "ongoing" extra 1GB bonus data.

Right. Fido's down to 2GB for $15 now...

I just signed up with a referral over chat, super easy, they called me to complete the transaction. Only like 15-30 seconds before I had someone on chat. Then I referred my wife on the same call. That went really smoothly.
Phones are for my sons. I'll have to look around my family and friends and see if I can find more people to sign up! Thanks OP great deal, thumbs up!

He's talking about fido's talk+text plans, not the data only plans. Zoomer is still the best for talk + text
