Zoomer now has the S8 for $0 on a $60 plan, but it looks like you need to pony up $350 to get it with the $36 plan which is steep.

My tethering started working after I deleted the one that had "tethering" in the apn. The only one left for me is ltemobile.apn.

Zoomer will continue to assign high value to their old phones to lock in their subscribers for 2 years. If Zoomer offers the $36 4GB market plan again, people can live with it for 2 years.
The new tactic is to push people into the $50+ range by purposely not selling 3-5 GB plans. We are seeing Chatr only selling 2GB plans and for way too much. To get a bit more data and you need to go all the way to 8GB and $50. Public Mobile will do the same after this week. I am sure Lucky is not too far behind. The Koodo offering was $50/4GB not that long ago and it is now $55/2GB. All this happening over a short period of time is not coincidence. It is a planned strategy to boost ARPU. If Zoomer offers me a $36/$GB plan, I will put my tail between my legs and come back. F*)@# Koodo.

Is the $27 1GB loyalty plan still available?

And will I be able to switch from my $36 one even though I am still in the 24 month agreement?

It depends on your subsidized phone. If it was free with a $27 or cheaper plan when you got it, you can switch to the $27 plan; otherwise, you need to pay off your device balance for the switch.

2014, when I started with Zoomer, the offer was 500 MB + 500 MB(BONUS).
2016, a month or two after Public Mobile was offering $120 12GB plan on 90 days billing cycles, Zoomer was offering 500 MB + 500 MB BONUS) + 1 GB(BONUS).
2018, couple months after the PM to Koodo migration $35/5GB plan, Zoomer was offering more data again: 500 MB + 500 MB(BONUS) + 1 GB(BONUS) + 2 GB(BONUS) until the end of March 2019.

With the recent concerted effort by Big-3 to raise the mobile price by $5 to $10 per month. Even PM is removing their rock bottom plans. ATM, mobile prices are moving higher. If you have the $36/4GB plan, don't change it as we don't know how long before Zoomer will be offering the $36/4GB plan again.

I had the $36/3GB plan. Can confirm that the $36 for 4GB and unlimited calling and texting loyalty plan is still available. As well, the $27 for 1GB and unlimited calling and text loyalty plan is still available.

If you get the $60 plan($54 after 10% off), the difference is $18/m x 24 = $432 over 2 years vs $350 up front.
Compare with Koodo, S8 will be on large tab $480 with minimum $80 plan. Even with GC from stores, it will be expensive on the Koodo $80 plan.
The decision is yours if you need a S8.

Just switched to the $36 plan. Been with Zoomer for a little over 4 years now, I didn't even realize that my contract had ended in January.
Still contemplating if I should re-sign for the contract now and get the G5, or pay up to the S8 (a phone I'd actually use), or wait and hope they launch the G6 or something newer for their line up.

Yup I'm in the same boat, $36 plan and contracts over but nothing worth upgrading to. I sold the initial GR5 they gave me and still using my own GS7. It'll probably be a while before they get anything worth upgrading to.
