Anyone know the current plan with A50?

Was offered $45/4.5 GB or $150 on the $36/4GB, any comments on the better option?

$150 upfront for $36/4GB plan is $6.25/m for the next 24 months.
$0 upfront for $45/4.5GB: You are paying extra $9/m for the next 24 months.
Unless you need the extra 500MB data/m, the $150 upfront payment is cheaper.

I figured that was the case too, just wondering if something I was missing.
I guess its just 42.25 vs 45 / month.

Is there tax on the $150 up front?

Yes. Government will take their share.

My calculation was based on the info your provided. You may double check with Zoomer about the $45 plan.
Is the $45 already with or without 10% off? The calculation will be different.

Thank you.

How is it when going up north/west end to kawarathas lakes or reception going Ottawa/ Montreal etc?

I just don't want shitty connection like Freedom. My friend has freedom and he frequently gets shitty connection on the 401 and on major Mackenzie

My kids uses Zoomer in Montreal, Ottawa, Toronto downtown, Calgary and Vancouver.
I don't know about that lake. If you don't get Rogers signal, the FREE extended coverage will kick in to provide free roaming on Telus/Bell towers.

You'll get annoyed when the free extended coverage takes half-a-minute to a minute going back and forth between Bellus LTE and Rogers 3G, and it's conditional on fair usage. If you spend an entire summer in the lakes using Bellus coverage, that's breaking the fair usage.

Zoomer/Rogers is great for urban areas, but for lakes etc, Bellus networks are stronger, so Koodos would probably be your best provider.
But do check the towers map to see how good your signal would be: https://www.ertyu.org/steven_nikkel/cancellsites.html
If there's a Rogers tower close to where you'll frequent, then you can go for Zoomer/Rogers.

If you don't like Rogers network, Public Mobile prepaid on Bellus network is another reasonable plan. I switched one of my kid from Zoomer $36 4GB plan to PM $40 5GB plan. I am paying $37/30 days after the $1/cycle loyalty reward + $2/cycle autopay reward. My kid has been with PM for 13 months traveling across Canada - Montreal, Toronto downtown, Calgary and Vancouver.

You may ask why I switch my kid to PM. My kid always use more than 4GB data to incur data overage every month. I told my kid that "your new plan has 5GB data. When you use them all before the end of 30 days cycle, you will be on wifi data diet until the beginning of next cycle".

I'm fine with Zoomer, I don't spend enough time in cottage country to warrant moving onto Bellus network. I'm just sharing info to the person asking. I started Dec 2018 so it'll take me another year to consider PM in any case.

PM is on LTE with the speed limit of 3G. Basically, you have all the benefit of LTE network unless you do HD video streaming.

Thanks for that. So for most basic things like calling, texting and a little internet on my iPhone I should not notice much difference in speed coming from Koodo to Public Mobile.
