Make sure you asked for the best deals and bonus before you sign up, there is a longer wait now. It seems that you are getting a better deal if you upgrade the phone (other than J3) before you sign the 2 years contract.

It seems Zoomer has learned the trick from Rogers. I may switch to Fido soon.
They've been this way since day 1 of inception!
I had about a month remaining before switching to the loyalty plan and was told that I had to pay the remaining device subsidy; or just wait to switch the following month.
I still have my reservations on those who got their fees waived!

Leave the moderating to the moderators.
And why should we wait until they see all the referral requests and have yet another thread locked and put away? Maybe new users should read the rules.

Referral requests get good threads like this locked, and gets users banned. Reminders have to be posted so things like this don't happen. Moderators aren't always on around the clock, so users help them out by following the rules and posting reminders. There's absolutely nothing wrong with OP or anybody doing a friendly PSA.

I picked up the K4 2017 with the 3 GB plan for $36. Selling it today for $100. Honestly, not too shabby. Tried going BYOP but they wouldn't let me.

Selling new phone at Kijiji for $100 is easy. But you still get low ball offer too. It is the nature of Kijiji buyers.

Need some advice.

Still got 81$ on my fido contract. Should I just pay it out? Currently paying $39 for 400mb data. I guess the referral can minimize the damage? and maybe sell the K4 for $100?

If you want to stay for 2 years, then get the J3 as it has higher resale value; otherwise, K4 is good with less device blance.

I would go for the GR5 or the J3. GR5 is the best phone spec wise, J3 has the Samsung brand. You can sell them for a guaranteed $100, maybe more if you have patience. $100 + another $25 from referral, leaves you $44 in the green, which is like an extra $2 off per month for the 24 months :P
Not too mention the savings from having a cheaper plan. I would do it, as I don't see a better plan showing up within 2 years, granted 3gb is enough for you.

Zoomer has absolutely no reason to switch any of their existing, contracted customers over to the new 3gb plan. I don't get why people are so mad at Zoomer. You should be mad at yourselves. That's the risk you take entering into a 2-year contract. Same way providers can't go and increase your monthly rate if their standard rates increase during your 2-year term. It's not in bad faith, it's called doing business.

Yes, jump ship to Zoomer. You can't beat the $36 for 3GB plan. Rogers/Fido/Cityfone/Zoomer uses the same network and all are owned by Rogers anyways. GR5 is the best of them all with an easy unlockable bootloader and root. For resale, either the J3 or GR5... the LG K4 seems too budget to me. A friend has the J3, it feels cheap and a little plasticky versus the GR5, but it all depends on personal preference or your intentions with the subsidized phone.

Save $3 per month ($72 over two years), gain 3GB of data per month, get subsidized phone, get $25 referral... you will come out on top in the long run.

It may be worthwhile asking how about extra the A5 is at the $36 plan if you are considering a secondary back-up. The GR5 also makes a great backup as well.

Too bad my device balance is too large to consider the change. If they offered a good phone selection that might be the incentive to pay out the balance.

Basically what's happening here is they're giving you a direct discount on your plan rather than a larger phone subsidy to put you on a term.
