If this is the case, this thread should be moved to expired deal.
$36 2GB plan is not a hot deal any more. We don't want RFD members got stuck with a 2 years contract.

When Zoomer does not get any more new subscribers from RFD, they may offer the 4GB plan again. YMMV
Instead of Zoomer, I will pay the PM $38(or less) unlimited CW minutes + 2.5GB data and no contract.
Have too many phones... This is how I limit my monthly phone payment.
Public Mobile $37 5GB, $13 250MB, 2x $8 50min/50text, Fido $5 4GB data only plan,
Zoomer $36 loyalty 4GB plan, $0 FPL home phone

That's ridiculous. Everything stated in the title of the thread is still available.

At least you keep the 4GB data, the major driver for the extra cost. Just try to talk in the evening and weekends when minutes are still unlimited.

That is P20 Lite - Not P20 - They are not the same phone.

There are 3 P20 phones
P20 Lite - offered by Rogers only - less expensive version among P20 product line.
P20 - offered by Big 3.
P20 Pro - offered by Big 3.

Hi rodent:
Sorry about lateness of this post. Been away...
I called on May 1 and was told that the 2GB is the standard loyalty offering. Then I told the agent that I found on the internet that many people were able to upgrade it to 4GB. She then went away and came back and said she has approval to upgrade me to 4GB. Mind you, this was a week before your experience, but you could try again.

On a related matter, I've decided to subscribe to the 2 year contract and get a free phone on May 10. Do not anticipate a need to change plan anytime soon. Unlimited CWC & 4GB are more than enough for me (for $36/month). I've chosen the P20 lite as it had a better reviews than the LG Q6 and the Samsung J3.

I see you have Koodo $30 plan. I have this as well (with 10% discount for bringing my own phone), but I added 500MB data for $5 more. Have you tried to see if they have any 'loyalty' offer similar to Zoomer? Think I will give it a try later this week. Been on their $30 plan for a long time.

Thanks for info. I was happy to report that it was available and I personally feel its better than the other options for a free phone.

P20 Lite is a newer phone with good specs.
But LG G5 has a lower price which is good just in case you need to cancel early.
BTW, I am using a LG G5. It is a good phone. Battery is not great. But it is a good backup phone.

Go with the G5. It is an older flagship, but better than P20 Lite https://www.phonearena.com/phones/compa ... 9819,10808:
  • G5 has OIS on back camera
  • G5 has better bandwidth support
  • G5 has better camera for capturing videos (supports up to 4K)
  • G5 has lower price (as per embguy) -- $250 G5 versus $500 P2L (this is vastly inflated). As a Pixel 3a is $549 off contract (or $400 if you include the $150 credit for the Google Store)

  • G5 is available for $36 plan. P20L needs the $45 (with 10% off it's $40.50) or you have to pay $75 upfront on $36
P20L is available for free on the $40 plan (aka as $36)

Be careful, the P20 lite is valued at $500. If you ever decide to leave, the cost could be prohibitive. This is the handcuffs that Zoomer uses to enforce 24 months of loyalty.

I would think it is the right thing to do, although this thread started out covering a lower usage plan. It was edited to cover 4GB later and then changed back. I guess the way things work with ongoing deals threads is that as long as the provider is still in business the thread lives. It is up to the OP to keep the thread fresh. That kind of crowds out the ability to generate new hot deals thread.
