Very practical size. I use my 6" Miyabi much more than my longer knives.

it's a good deal for sure, there was some discussion in a previous thread. Most people do want a slightly larger size as their main knife, but people who cook in smaller quantities may find the 7" size pretty ideal

Good price for a Zwilling Chef's, and the Pro is a great design with the modern minimal bolster, but it's only a 7" blade. 8" is standard, and even that seems small once you use a 10" a few times.

Also saw this knife available for the same price in the Vaughan Mills Zwillings store yesterday for those who want to pick it up in person or try it out in store.

Global is stamped, this is forged. The theory generally is that forged knives hold their edge better than stamped.

Generally stamped knives are cheaper because they are made in less steps.

Ahhh I was thinking those were forged. I want to build a 3pc set on my own under $200

Zwilling Pro:

D shape handle.
Single bolster
57 degrees hardness
15 degrees edge profile

Classic Ikon

Curved ergonomic handle
Double bolster
58 degrees hardness
14 degrees edge profile

If you like the handle and double bolster, Ikon is a much more meticlously built knife than Pro. Truth be told I generally lean more towards Wusthof as a whole.

Only GF series of Global are forged. If you only want 3 pieces, probably best to pick up an 8" to 10" Chef's knife. 7" is good for many instances but it will feel short handling bigger pieces of meat/poultry imo so I wouldn't get it as primary knife.

If you're in GTA and can wait for Zwilling warehouse you can pickup good knives at good prices there.
