[Amazon Canada] 1 kg cheerios jumbo cereal $4.89 (add-on) or as low as $4.16 with S&S

amazon.ca has 1 kg of cheerios jumbo cereal on sale for $4.89 as an add-on. Add-on means that with prime, you need $25 of items to ship. With non-prime, you need $35 of items.

For those with prime, you can do subscribe and save (S&S) to get 5-15% off. 15% discount applies if you subscribe to 5 items in a delivery and takes the price to $4.16. With S&S option, you don't need $25 of items to ship, which is nice!

According to CCC, this is an all-time low price.

According to Q&A, this consists of 2 boxes with total net weight 1.01 kg. Each box contains 505 gram.

Also, if you don't go the S&S route, there is a promo until 30 Sept 2018 to "save 10% when you spend $35 or more on select everyday essentials. Discount automatically applied at checkout."

Also, these are pretty close to gluten-free. The "gluten-free" marking was removed from boxes even though they "meet the regulatory standard for gluten-free designation". (i.e. it avoids them being sued if a bad box slips through). You can read more about that here: https://www.cbc.ca/news/health/cheerios ... -1.4370176

Prime isn't required to Subscribe & Save (only benefit it specifically gives is 20% off diapers).

Great price. I usually stock up at Costco when it's on sale for 4.99 which is about every 2 months or so.

I always had an upset stomach whenever I ate cheerios. They're putting some odd ingredients in there because I never had issues with other cereals.

Having said that, it's a pretty good deal and I would take advantage of it if my stomach didn't feel like shit after eating it.

No pain no gain, the cereal is just getting rid of unwanted bacteria, it’s fine :)

Could be maybe iron content, some people get sick even by using multivitamins with added iron, just a guess ...
