$10k off 2017 Mdx? For real?

A friend of mine went to an Acura dealer and they offered him $10k off the 2017 models. I know they’re already $6500 off but an additional $3500 is nuts. Can anyone else get this?

What trim level? I checked the Tech package one (mid trim) and the markup on it is $4831. So getting $3500 from dealer is about right. Dealer still makes over $1300 and gets to clear out old stock I'm assuming.

The factory incentive makes it a really good deal on top.

The MDX had a history of big rebates for older models (do a search here), especially at generation ends.

Don't worry, the dealer knows what they are doing. They always come out on top.

No, your friend isn't getting a special discount because the dealership thinks he's handsome. 3500 off is nothing for a car of that price range, especially the previous model year.

He’s getting the elite model.

This is normal for Acura. It's the only way they move their product.

When you are talking about a 65k+ SUV I can see 10k off. The thing is a massive boat. Looks sharp.

We got $14,500 off our new 2009 MDX back then. And that was on the base trim. Worked out cheaper than a Pilot at the time. There was thread about it.

So, not overly surprising they would do it again.

That said, I just got rid of my 2017 MDX. Traded it in for an XC90.

Nice! But isn’t a comparably equipped xc90 cost significantly more than an Mdx elite with the $10k off?

MDX is likely cheaper but the XC90 has some big rebates too and has some safety features that aren't available on the MDX.

Can't go wrong with either however.

Yes, the XC90 was actually considerably more expensive than the MDX, even without rebates. But I was unhappy with my MDX and wanted out.

Loving the XC90 so far.

Just curious, what made you unhappy with the MDX?
thanks

It was in the shop, admittedly for mostly minor issues or parts replacements, too many times.

And the transmission behaved oddly. It may just be the ZF9, but it didn’t feel normal.

Do you knwo whether 10K discount is after applying PDI and TAX or its before. Is the discount offered for demo model or new? I was offered similar discount on demo but latter when i started discussing about OTR price that time it was revealed that PDI has to be applied on demo and discount is applied after all calculation.
