[Princess Auto] 14" Weber Smokey Joe $35

Saw this in the Surplus section in Markham store (Hwy 7/Woodbine). Not a bad deal if you're the market as it's normally around $50+ at Amazon or Home Depot.
Vs the 22" kettle, it's obviously smaller but for space challenged condo dwellers, unit is portable and can be taken and used used in parks.

Good price. I've had my Smokey Joe for 9 years and it's still going strong. I even leave it outside, uncovered and it has no rust. It's the perfect size for a couple.

Cuisinart - per Amazon.ca

14-h Chrome plated grill surface, over 150 Square-h
Durable enamel coated firebox
Convenient mess-free ash catcher
Dual venting system for charcoal management and temperature control
Three secure lid locks for easy and safe transport

Reviews are not good though [1/3rd is 1 star]

Weber - per Amazon

The Weber Smokey Joe charcoal grill is an ideal portable grill for cookouts, tailgate parties, and car camping
The glass reinforced nylon handle allows you to easily remove the lid as needed. The dimensions are 17 x 14.2 x 14.5 inches (43.18 x 36.06 x 36.8 cm)
The cooking grate measures 14-1/2-inch diameter and is triple nickel-plated
The porcelain enameled coating prevents rust and fading
10-year limited warranty

Weber is very known company when it comes to this grill.

I'm guessing the metal is a lot thicker on the Weber as weight of package is 4.3kg vs 2.2 for the Cuisinart. Price is really good for the Cuisinart - almost disposable at $11.

These are great little BBQs for camping and of the sorts. I have the Master Touch Kettle at home, and take this with me on the go. It packs a punch and can feed 4 people very comfortably. 6+ if you're just doing burgers and hot dogs.

I've cooked steal, salmon, breakfast, you name it!

You'd have to go through the buying process into payment then it will show up.

I am going to oder online. $10 bucks for shipping beats driving to the store and back. I have a Weber 22" kettle and will use this as well for smaller cooks.

Smaller 14" unit is also good for sous viders who want to sear IMO. Can put 4 ribs steaks on.

is this a good size grill to learn the art of charcoal grilling? I've been getting tired of the taste from propane and have fond memories of charcoal bbq food. Will this allow me to learn the basics of starting and maintain heat? Is it too small to get hot enough for certain foods (1" steaks?)

quick question: what is supposed to be more carcinogenic: propane or charcoal grilled foods? don't mean to start an argument, just wondering if there's a difference.
