[Dell] $161.95 Dell S2340L 23" IPS 1080P Monitor - 3 Year Warranty

Non-vesa mountable, 7 ms response time, vga and hdmi connectors (only comes with vga cable, get a cheap hdmi cable off ebay if you need one). Stand looks sturdy enough. Cheaper than other 23" and above IPS monitors and has a 3 year warranty :)

I own one and it's pretty solid for an IPS monitor. Good colour but very glossy, like 100% will reflect light if you have strong lights or are beside a window during the day. No built-in speakers but has an audio out for when you connect via HDMI, which means you can at least hook up your own awesome setup to them if you really want to. That being said, it's not the lowest price it's been. I don't know how often it happens , but it's been as low as $129.99.

( I paid $160.73. $129.99 + $12.25 environment fee + tax )

Can also vouch for this as a solid IPS monitor. It appears the pixels are sitting on top of the display kinda like my Macbook Pro, but its still somehow quite reflective in the daytime however. I got mine for $129 back in June last year and wasn't charged environmental fee for some reason.

How much better is this compared to the Samsung PLS monitor?

I just Googled it a bit. Seems like the Pls is just as good as ips regarding viewing angles, but it may or may not not be as good as ips in other respects. Good deal if all you want from ips is the viewing angle.

was about $350 back then if memory serves me

man o man.. this was the best thing I ever did for my eyes.. and after 5 or so power on hours per day since then, 5 years of usage and it still works like the day I bouight it!

Should I wait then if it's been as low as 129?

I need an IPS monitor (pref 21" and up) with excellent picture in the next month or less. Any suggestions? Wait?

well.. I just made post about dell 2209wa
22"

see the thread.

I seriously doubt you can beat the image quality and durability of this monitor. I don't mean some nonsense refresh rates etc.. I am not a gamer, and I don't care. but for all around home/office/text/browsing/windows/linux/wahtever ... this is heaven to your eyes. and equally important, it looks like it'll last ya a while too. mine is 5 years and going.. at 5 hours a day about of power on.

i have no idea if they still make them..

I'm looking for an affordable IPS monitor as well. Been waiting for a while to pull the trigger on something. Might jump up to the U2412M, which I think I could get down to $257+tax+eco fee.

Is that a good deal?

This is kinda moot since apparently that monitor is not available... but it would have been quite a steal at $118.

PLS is just as good as IPS, sometimes better. Many notable monitors have used Samsung PLS panels - Viewsonic VP2770, Asus PB287Q, Samsung S27A850D. And the legendary Korean overclocking (96-120Hz) monitors from Qnix and X-star also used PLS.

IPS is an LG trademark, so other panel makers can't use that name. Samsung-made panels that use the same technology are called PLS, and AU Optronics calls their IPS tech AH-MVA. It's all basically the same thing.

hmm not much of a tech guy I am, but I remember reading up on my good old dell 2209wa and it said eips panel. whatever that means.

any monitors out there now that use eips? I wouldn't mind upgrading to 24"

but I am afraid of not getting as good a screen as my 2209wa
