'19 GLI or '19 Accord 2.0t

Hey everyone, in the next few months I will be looking to lease either a 2019 VW Jetta GLI (DSG) or 2019 Honda Accord 2.0t Automatic. Likely a 42-48 month lease.
I know that the GLI isn't out yet, but I'd like to get some perspective on both cars. The Accord is larger, but the Jetta might have slightly better features. They are both relatively the same price after options.
Just trying to see what the world thinks of these two options.

Thanks

Very different appearances on these two. Personally the Jetta is a very bland looking sedan, even the interior is a vast contrast to the Accord. I didn't even know the accord and Jetta were cross-shopped.

Do you care about the appearance of one over the other?

For payments the VW has better rates when currently compared to the Accord.

The GLI looks marginally better than the Accord (but that's not saying much for either of them...). Both engines are equally proven. GLI has the higher performing transmission. Fuel economy is probably about the same. I would question the reliability of the GLI, but it would be under warranty.

Honda doesn't really have a full-sized sedan in their lineup. Acura RLX would be closest. Or a Toyota Avalon.

Haven’t been in a recent Jetta but if you ever have to carry people around I think the back seats in the accord would be limo like in comparison. Sat in the accord at the auto show, only sat in the gti /sportswagon but not the Jetta.

I'm looking for a sporty-ish car that is fun to drive. Looks do matter, but to me the colour is more important to me. I'm big on tech and features. I don't have kids or pets, so it it will only usually be me driving.
I'm looking at the Accord Sport 2.0t, sorry for not clarifying.
I'm not concerned about reliability because the warranty period will cover whatever I need.

Would the VW GTI 4 door hatch work size wise? because that is sportier than either of these

I would lean towards the GLI if you want sporty. It is lighter, and comes with a mechanical LSD. Plus VW's virtual cockpit is pretty slick.

If you need the space, then go accord.

If you're looking in terms of size sure, but I think OP might be looking in terms of HP.

Amazing how VW and Audi is so different.

I love the EXTERIOR but can't get over the bland interior.

I've test driven a few VW (Jetta, Golf GTI and Tiguan) and performance is great.

Honda since releasing the CivicX in 2016 has changed my attitude (bought the 2017 FK7 Sport Touring), I love the aggressive exterior design, the interior has improved as well as the performance.
You got to be a new type of stupid, to do me wrong, not apologize, think that if you let time go by, you can hit me up like you still have access to me.

I used to have a 2012 GTI, kinda why I am leaning towards the GLI.
I don't really need the space as it is usually just me and my wife that's it, the odd time I drive people around but I'd say 95 percent of the time its just me.
I feel the tech is somewhat similar but the GLI has the digital cockpit, the heated and cooled seats, the locking diff. and the DSG transmission. Also a bonus is memory seating, especially when you have two drivers with different heights.
Although the Accord has much more power and room, I heard the MK7 Jetta interiors aren't the greatest.

Really? Tell that to all the VW owners that love saying they're driving an Audi, but has a VW badge for product hierarchy reasons.

The Jetta should be a better drive. Interior should be better from VWAG. I would get the GLI if I was in the same position.

I personally like the GTI better. I guess it depends on price for me.

Not really. Class is ascertained by interior room. Cars are getting bigger, fatter and heavier, but seem to have crap interior room.

It's very close to full-size. IIRC the 8th gen car was classified by the [US] EPA as full-size/large in the sedan format while the coupe was slightly smaller and was thus a mid-size. The 9th & 10th gen only have a sedan and they are slightly smaller than the large sedan specification making them mid-size by US definitions.

Anyway, my vote goes to GLI.
No longer posting on RFD. Will answer PMs from time to time, if anyone needs help/advice/etc.
