1LB Propane Cylinder Storage

Hello Fellow RFDers,

Received an hand me down portable stove (dual gas - propane + butane) - thought this would be perfect for backyard hotpot in fall.
However, I am wondering how to safely store 1LB Propane Cylinders (Not tanks) out in window/summer; plenty of information on tanks, but not much info on cylinders.

=> Kept outdoors (both summer and winter)
=> Ventilated

If anyone with experience could give me some tips it would be greatly appreciated.

Propane (Butane or any other pressurized flammable gas) cylinders, tanks, container, vessels, are all the same. Size of vessel is not relevant. Handling and storage are the same.

Hi,

No, the butane or propane gas doesn't go bad, so in that sense they don't expire. The cans are considered expired when all the gas is gone or used up.

I have had ones that after getting a few years old fail to fully reseal when removed so watch out for that.
