Per FAQ, you might not get the whole year free if you donโ€™t enter the credit card info
Is there a free trial available?
Yes, you can try out 1Password Families for free for one month. At the end of the month, you will be asked to enter your credit card information. All features are unlocked and available for you to experience during your trial
I have the pro version of the App and it does everything I need with no monthly fee, including cloud synch across multiple devices. Just missing the ability to access the data from a PC or online. Not sure what real benefit Iโ€™d have to get this plan.

1Password offered the pro features unlocked for free during some promo several years ago. They have since moved to a subscription model. I have the iOS version

Just renewed Dashlane but would have tried this otherwise!

Anybody know how it compares?

Only If you are on the Business (and I believe Enterprise) plan, we use the cheaper Teams plan and that unfortunately doesn't include personal/family plans.

I also have the app I bought and will eventually move to another app when it no longer serves my needs. Sad about their subscription model.

Family plan enables you and your family to have your own vaults as well as ability to create shared vaults where only selected family members can access (I.e. house hold account for utilities vault is accessible by parents, library and Netflix account vault accessible by everyone, etc.). Super handy if you can get the SO on board to use password managers.

Is it not a very dangerous move to use service like this?
Can only speak to 1Password and not other providers. All information are encrypted with the account key and master password. If their entire infrastructure gets hacked, the attacker would still need to have those two pieces of information (which only you know) to access your credentials... Nothing a $5 wrench can't fix though.
