2.5" USB enclosure and cheap Chinese tablet?

Anyone ever tried to plug in a 2.5" USB enclosure into their Chuwi (or a similar clone) tablet? Is the micro USB port on the tablet sufficient to power the enclosure for continuous use?

I've powered a 2.5" hard drive on a non-China brand tablet and it worked. As long as the tablet's USB port is to spec, it should work. OTG can be a bit of a battery drain though so watch out for that.

As Jep4444 said, powering a USB device really drains the battery. I tried powering a USB stick through my N7 and battery levels dropped like a rock. If you are planning to power a mechanical hard drive it will probably be worse.
