FYI it seem this is just a proposal and nothing is final...
Does anybody know if the increase is actually happening?
My renewal came in the mail and July 1 is fast approaching.

Mr. Ford & his government flip flopping on a number of issues is not only confusing, it is getting frustrating.

biggest gripe i have with this is the constant flip flopping and no clear direction as to what the government is doing. 7% to 2% is fine but why come out initially and say they're scrapping it then say a few months later that they're doing the 2%.

I have no issues paying the 2% increase... but i seriously doubt it will go to infrastructure, roads etc. it will go to something else ford canned that he realizes he needs the money for.

They flip flopped again. Some fees are going up in July, others are not. Basic details are in the June 27, 2019 Press Release part of which says:
Key driver, vehicle and commercial fees will not increase until July 1, 2020. This is the third round of driver and vehicle fee increases that have been cancelled by the government. A modest two per cent increase to remaining fees will take effect on July 12, 2019.
...
Fees that will not increase this year include: driver's licence renewals, driver's licence applications, and vehicle plate, permit and validation fees.
A list of what is not increasing and what is increasing on July 12 can be found here: https://news.ontario.ca/mto/en/2019/06/ ... anges.html
