2002 Acura EL, remote starter/keyless entry and ignition issues

Hey everyone, was looking on getting some opinions and help in these matters.

I have recently bought a 2002 Acura El, and it turns out that the autostarter/keyless entry is not working at all, the bulb on the remote lights up but nothing happens, the guy said its installed however doesn't work. Does anyone have any suggestions? The remote is pretty generic and says "autostarter" (assuming the company name) on it.

Also sometimes the key gets lodged in the ignition when turning off the car, didn't notice this when i test drove the car, just started happening, happened twice already, i wiggle the wheel start and turn off the car to get the key out, but its a pain.

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Did the previous owner give you all three keys? (two masters and one valet key) Do they all get stuck in the ignition?

If not, they key may just be worn down. Sadly to get a new key cut and chipped will be $60 or so. If yes, the lock cylinder may be worn down and needs to be replaced.

only got one key with it so can't test the key worn down theory, also i dont think my key is chipped it doesn't have anything special on it, or i can't really tell :(

The master and valet keys are chipped; it's embedded inside the plastic grip.

IMHO, you should get a second key ASAP regardless. Ask the owner to check if he/she still has the spare keys. If not, head to the dealer and get a new key made. (To save $$$, you don't need to get a replacement fob if you don't want to.) It is much more difficult to get a replacement key cut if your original is lost/stolen.

P.S. Valet key is equivalent to the master in every way except you can't open the trunk or the fold-down backseats IF you use a master key to lock the trunk release control.
