2005 Mazda 6. Trade-in or Fix and Sell on Kijiji?

I have a 2005 Mazda 6 with about 125,000 kms. The car runs well and have been serviced regularly, but there are a few issues with the car which may need to be fixed before I can sell it.

Day Time Running Lights - $400 (the modules are not working)
Catalytic Converter $300
Wheel bearing - $250
Front Brakes - $900

So it would cost close to $2000 to fix everything.

Similar cars are selling around $3000 on Kijiji. Should I trade it in or fix it up and sell it myself?

Definitely trade it in. If you see it advertised for $3000 expect the selling price to be less. There has to be some room for negotiation

Where did you get those repair cost from? Many of them seem high and you might be able to cut those prices by shopping around or looking at used parts - ie $900 for front brakes? Or the Daytime running module might be had at an autowreckers for cheap.

Wow, used cars are so cheap in your neck of the woods. I just checked listings in my area for 2005 Mazda 6's with around 100-150km and only found listings for $5000+

older Mazdas usually have a lot of rust in the snowy regions of Canada. Used cars are generally cheaper here, especially Mazdas.

I hope the company fixed the issue with their new cars.

Even installed, $900 for just front brakes is kind of stiff!

If you look at the standard parts of pads and rotor, Rock Auto's highest price pads cost $70 with the lowest price being just over $10 and their rotors go for $25 to $95 each so unless we are replacing calipers, or doing the rears as well, the price should be at most for parts $270 and that's for performance parts.

Its a nice car. get a second quote from an indie shop or a mobile mechanic. Your front brakes should be done in 200 and wheel beering around another 150. DRLs can be bought from wrecker and the catalytic converter you can try for new and used. Seriously for a good car i would rather spend the money and keep driving it.
