2009 lancer ignition key inquiry

hi all,

i have a 2009 lancer and i only have one key that has the unlock/lock and alarm button on it (its not the FAST key type). Now my question is, is this key have those immobilizer chip in it? i am asking because im planning to just buy an uncut key only to have a spare. i dont know much about keys but i know for honda they have a chip in their keys and need to marry with the car to start it.
hope i made my self clear since even i dont really know how to explain it and the dealer i called wants me to bring in the car and have it looked at and charged me 100 for diagnostic lol.

Transport Canada required all new vehicles sold in Canada from September 2007 onwards to have an immobilizer built in.

Therefore, if you have a 2009 model they your key will have a chip that needs to have a handshake with the car before allowing a start.

If you don't want to go to the dealer, you can reach out to a locksmith, they should be able to provide this service too.
