Only if the engine was rebuilt by Audi under tHe extended warranty campaign. The 2.0 CAEB motor of that era came with undersized piston rings which caused excessive oil burning.

This is quite un-detailed here. Having "new tyres" says nothing about the tyres (e.g. are they good ones?) and says absolutely nothing about the rest of the car. Didn't even say what engine it is, never mind any of the real details you need to be looking at, or have looked at, when you buy any used car.

If you're looking for this for use as a beater then maybe that's description and "looking into" enough; otherwise, do your homework before buying this or any other used vehicle.

Is there a reason you are buying a decade old "luxury" car that has over 150000km and the model has known engine issues?

Maybe OP likes the looks? Or budget balling?

I personally prefer older cars from the late 90's into the early 2000's for a weekend toy. New cars just suck in the fun department.

I use to be an Audi fan. I wouldn't touch them now beyond the warranty period. All my cars have had major issues, when I come to think about it.

And it's barely a "luxury" car. More like a rebranded Passat

Indeed, however the engine may have been rebuilt under warranty with the revised pistons. The chain would definitely be the old-style time-bomb tensioner when the car was built--that too could have been replaced but again all OP has to offer is "new tyres" which says absolutely nothing about the condition of the car, what it might need, and what has been done already. Knowing nothing about a particular model and further the particular vehicle you are looking at, is a recipe for disaster when buying used. Don't matter if it's Audi or Ford or Toyota or Cadillac... Do. Your. Homework.

Passat and A4 are not even remotely related. Also the "NMS" Passat we've had here since the early 10s, isn't even a real Passat either (but that's another story). A4 and Passat were only related to each other once in history, with the 4th gen/B5 Passat. Passats since are totally different. Not on the same platform, have different layouts, don't share any engines or transmissions....completely different vehicles.

Though it should be mentioned, you have to remove the supercharger to replace the PCV on this engine, lol.

A friend around the corner has parked his FIL’s 2002 Boxster with 48,000KM on their driveway prior to listing is. FIL is asking $18,000 and my friend caught himself thinking if it was manual he would purchase it. Feel like someone out there is gonna have a fun time with it.
