2012 Hyundai Tucson?

My GF will be buying my parents 2012 FWD Hyundai Tucson. It's got 170,000 kms but the majority of that is highway miles as my parents drive south every winter. Car has never seen a Canadian winter either. My dad absolutely baby's the car, all regular maintenance done, all recalls done etc. Car is in immaculate condition. Tires, struts and brakes all recently replaced. What do you think the car is worth? Any other suggestions/advice?

Check Auto Trader ...

The ones with 170k + FWD are ~$6,000.00-$7,000.00

Give them ~$8,000.00?

If Auto Trader says $6k-$7k, that's asking price which they're not likely to get.

My suggestion to OP...are you parents getting another car? Ask a dealer what the trade in value is and that is what they should likely ask GF for that.

Problem with non-arms length transactions is you should not rip off (even getting market price is not ideal) the person buying the vehicle....give them a very good deal and thus no matter what happens, there should be no ill-will as they got a good deal.

My gut says $5-6k. [If you get a UVIP, it has the "value" for tax purposes].
We're all bozos on the bus until we find a way to express ourselves...

Failure is always an option...just not the preferred one!
